On this edition of Living Classical with Tyler Kline: Nubia Jaime-Donjuan composes from the intersection of two worlds–a cellist and composer raised in Sonora, Mexico, drawn to the cultural and natural textures of her environment. Tyler Kline shares two of her works, including Danza Mestiza, a piece that links Spanish and Mexican musical traditions in a single dance.

Then: Conceived in Iceland, Linda Buckley's Friður pairs piano with an electronic track that creates an atmosphere beneath the instrument–what one performer called a rumble. But the score's most striking instruction is earthbound: at moments of climax, the pianist is told to simply "land."

Music by Missy Mazzoli, Samuel Bang, Andre Myers, Esther Bersweden, Takuma Itoh, Zack Browning, Zachary Good, Alex Groves, Fjóla Evans, and Huang Ruo.

Featuring performances by Adam Tendler, piano; Patrick Yim, violin; Alice Vieira, piano; Ruben Lopes, piano; Francisco Ribeiro, percussion; Tiago Dias, percussion; Andy Hudson, clarinet; Cathal Breslin, piano; Maiani Da Silva, violin and voice; Unheard-of//Ensemble; Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra; National Youth Choir Fellowship Ensemble; Riot Ensemble; and Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra.
